Fairbank United 1:0 Wellington
League
Bingley Road Playing Fields
Fairbank were made to battle all the way for the three points in a game that should have been put to rest well before the final whistle. In a commanding first half performance Fairbank took the lead early on through great link up play between Bobby and Maz, who duly laid on Wanchope to score his fourth of the season.
It seemed the floodgates would open as chance after chance was being created, only to be spurned through poor finishing. This coupled with two clear penalty shouts that were turned down saw Wellington reamin in the game until half time. It was then Wellington's turn to dominate, applying intense pressure to the back line. Despite all the pressure the defence held firm with Haris not having to make a meaningful save all game. Fairbank still maintained their threat on the counter attack, and chances went begging once again as Maz, Adil, Bobby and Nav failed to convert their chances which would have killed the game as a contest.
Fairbank hung on for the win despite the Wellington onslaught in the last 20 minutes
