Fairbank United 6:2 Norfolk
Sonder Heating Centenary Cup Group A
Bingley Road Playing Fields

Fairbank put on a scintillating display to take the points in this exciting cup match at Bingley Road. From the first whistle it was evident Fairbank were up for the challenge as they got about their rivals, disrupting their passing game and hitting them with some devastating attacks. Within 5 minutes Fairbank had edged themselves in front, as Bobby latched on to a loose ball in the area and smashed home from close range.

Within minutes the score was doubled as the hard working Maz caused hovoc with the Norfolk defence teeing up Adil who smashed a lovely shot into the far corner. On 15 minutes Adil scored his second, after latching on to a lovely ball from the left from Nav, to stroke it home from close range. Norfolk managed to get one back, with a sensational volley from the edge of the area, before Bobby was once again released on the left and slotted home his second.

A gritty second half performance saw Fairbank refuse to give ground to Norfolk. The defence marshalled by Captain Marvel saw Norfolk reduced to half chances. It was after the withdrawal of Nis, who is still being nursed back from his ankle injury that saw Norfolk walk through and score their second of the game.

A wonderful turn on the run from Wanchope on the edge of the area was followed by a sublime finish which restored the three goal advantage. Nav slotted home the 6th just before the final whistle.

This was an excellent team performance from Fairbank today, as players performed to the top of their ability throughout the team
